About the 75th Anniversary
The Australian College of Optometry’s original Memorandum and Articles of Association was signed on 29th December 1939 and the organisation was incorporated on 5th February 1940, hence the 75 years anniversary is being celebrated in 2015.
2015 will also be the 30th Anniversary of the Victorian Eyecare Service (VES), which officailly began operations in February 1985. The VES is delievered by the ACO on behalf of the State Government to provide eye care services to Victorians experiencing disadvantage. The VES anniversary will be celebrated during the ACO 75th festivities as well as separately.
The organising committee is preparing an exciting range of activities. Please check this webpage for interesting information about the hisotry of the ACO including anecdotes from staff and ACO members. Also check the webpage regularly for up to date information on upcoming celebratory events and actiities beings organised for members, partners, donors, suporters, patients and the community.
During 2015 the ACO will offer: an anniversary dedicated seminar, an open day, an afternoon tea and tour for ACO dignitaries and alumni, the ACO AGM, held in May, will be a celebratory even of current and past achievements and of course the annual National ACO Conference in October will highlight 75 years of the ACO.
