Vision Initiative Pilot Program Launch

A new pilot program launched on World Sight Day (Thursday, 10 October) by the Victorian Minister for Health, the Hon David Davis MLC and Vision 2020 Australia aims to help Victorians save their sight.

Vision 2020 Australia CEO Jennifer Gersbeck said the pilot projects will be implemented across four local government areas in Victoria through the Vision Initiative program.

“We know people who are over 40, have a family history of eye disease, people with diabetes, smokers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have an increased risk of developing certain eye conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma or refractive error,” Ms Gersbeck said.

The new pilot projects aim to bring health and eye health professionals together to identify those at risk of eye disease and vision loss and encourage them to have regular eye tests.
