What is the ACO-Clinical Knowledge Evaluation Glaucoma ?

The ACO-CKE Glaucoma is a knowledge testing tool which enables optometrists to test their depth and breadth of existing knowledge across the group of diseases that comprises glaucoma. It measures the user against all users to date.

How does it work?

Participants will undertake an online simulated timed patient consultation. There are a total of 90 questions spread across 9 skill categories and most questions derive from real clinical case scenarios. Over 90% of the material requires some degree of visual or data interpretation.

How long does it take?

It will take approximately 45 – 75 minutes duration.

What is the outcome of the program?

It is important to note that it is not designed to educate the practitioner in the traditional way but will provide the user with a unique individual colour coded report. The overall aim of the report is to promote self-awareness on areas a practitioner can improve upon, promote self-learning relating back to the latest guidelines and also provide targeted, learning opportunities through our suite of educational options, including relevant workshops, online lectures and online certificates.

Who is it suitable for?

    • Practicing optometrists who wish to assess and improve their skills against best practice standards
    • Optometrists who wish to build their own individual learning portfolio and tailor future programs to their skill development
    • Employers as a staff development tool
    • Optometrists returning to work after an absence of leave.

How much does it cost?

Each program costs AU $50 GST for members plus GST and $100 for non-members plus GST 

Does the ACO-CKE Glaucoma attract CPD points?

Yes, completion of the program attracts 2 CPD points in Australia   and  1G and 1CD in New Zealand.

Does the ACO-CKE Glaucoma attract post-nominals?

No the program itself does not attract post-nominals. However the program can be used as a pathway to identify further education, including certificate level courses, where you are awarded post-nominals.

What happens if I don't complete it within the timed 75 minutes?

The program will automatically time out after 8 minutes in each section. After this time any information that has been completed will automatically be submitted on your behalf.

What if I want to have a second attempt to see if I have improved?

Those that would like to test themselves again after undertaking education in the areas that were recommended for further review can request a second attempt free of charge within 12 months by contacting This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Can I complete the program if I am an not a registered optometrist in Australia and New Zealand?

Yes, you can complete the module if you are not a registered optometrist in Australia or New Zealand or if you are a practicing overseas.

Are my results confidential?

Yes all your results are completely confidential and only you will be able to access your results. Peer benchmarking is based on de-identified information.
