The ACO Certificate in Public Health Optometry is designed to ensure graduates are equipped with the skills to protect the safety and improve the health of communities 

through education, health promotion, policy making and research for eye disease and injury prevention.  With a module dedicated to leadership in public health optometry, 

the course aims to to provide any professional working in eye health with an interest in public health to become thought-leading professional advocates with scope to develop

niche skills through an initiative of their own choice.

The ACO-CPHO is a six-month remote learning course that offers a flexible style of learning with:

The 2019 course will commence on Monday 27 May 2019. Refunds are not payable after this date.

Entry Requirements

This course is open to a range of professionals – optometrists, orthoptists, educators, project managers and other health care professionals and staff working in a public health or optometry setting.  

The awarding of CPD and CE points is only available for optometrists registered to practice in Australia or New Zealand.

Course Resources Included in Course Fees

Following enrolment and throughout the duration of the course, candidates will receive:
•    access to online lectures, lecture handouts, course notes and suggested reading lists;
•    the opportunity to communicate with other candidates and ACO staff via an online forum; and
•    assistance and support during business hours for access and utilisation of learning materials.

 

The ACO-CPHO and Continuing Professional Development Credits

Applications have been submitted for accreditation of this course in both Australia and New Zealand.

The ACO recognises and advises prospective candidates that this course is not an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification and therefore may not be recognised by universities as a pathway for further learning. Candidates who are seeking credit for this certificate for entry into a university course should seek the advice of the appropriate institution.

ACO Membership is an annual subscription (January to December) available nationally and internationally, which provides access to a wide range of on-line learning options and offers great resources to help with your study.

If you are currently not an ACO member and wish to avail yourself of the Member discount for ACO-ACG, please submit your ACO Membership application  with your course application.
