Contact Lenses
ACO Eye Health prescribes most major types of lenses. In addition to standard soft silicone-hydrogel lenses, we also fit custom Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) lenses, miniscleral, prosthetic and orthokeratology (Ortho-k) lenses. These can enable improved vision for a diverse range of conditions including keratoconus, corneal graft, post-refractive surgery, pellucid marginal degeneration, aphakia, presbyopia, astigmatism and myopia.
All patients must have a general eye examination to evaluate their suitability for contact lenses.
Routine contact lens care is available at all ACO Eye Health locations. If you require advanced contact lens care, you may be referred to our Carlton location. Private eye care practitioners are welcome to refer patients to ACO Eye Health for advanced contact lens services.
Please note that an appointment with an optometrist is required when collecting your specialty contact lenses. This ensures your lenses fit well and tailored to your eye health needs.

Safety Glasses
Prescription safety glasses provide essential eye protection while ensuring clear vision tailored to your prescription needs. Designed for both comfort and durability, they meet industry safety standards to shield your eyes from impact, debris, and harmful elements. Safety glasses are often used by people working in manufacturing, construction or healthcare.
Safety glasses are suitable for bifocal, multifocal and occupational lenses, and can accommodate prescriptions from -6 to +6.
Prices for prescription safety glasses start at $249. Our full range of safety glasses is available to try on all ACO Eye Health clinics.
Are safety glasses certified?
Yes, each product in our range is independently tested to ensure it exceeds both Australian and international safety standards. Certified glasses undergo batch testing and assessment to ensure the product continues to meet the needs specified in the standard. Buying a certified product guarantees:
- Ongoing compliance guaranteed
- Batch testing
- All components are traceable
- Added liability cover

FAQs
We've answered some of the frequently asked questions we receive about our glasses and contact lenses here.
Yes, you can claim for prescription glasses with your private health insurance extras. Contact your health fund provider for more information.
No. Unfortunately, we cannot provide glasses using a prescription from another optometrist. We could not provide a warranty for your glasses or contact lenses in this instance.
Yes, our Carlton-based technicians can provide basic and complex repairs on glasses purchased from ACO Eye Health. Please bring your glasses to your local ACO Eye Health clinic to discuss with a team member. Basic repairs may be available at your local ACO Eye Health clinic.
Simply contact the clinic where you purchased your glasses from originally and they will be happy to assist. Please note that some frames may no longer be available, so a substitute may be offered instead. To order the same pair again your prescription will still need to be valid.
This is determined by the condition of the frames, their size, shape, curvature and your prescription requirements. Our recommendation would be to visit your preferred ACO Eye Health clinic with the frames and have a chat with the team; they will be able to assess your glasses for suitability and will be able to give you a quote based on your requirements.
All of our clinics can access your details, latest glasses purchase and glasses prescription, making it easy to the ACO Eye Health location most convenient for you.
- Always remember to use both hands to take your glasses off to help maintain their original shape.
- Use a formulated cleaning spray.
- When cleaning your lenses with the cleaning spray, it’s best to use a clean microfibre cloth.
- On a hot day, you need to be mindful that it’s even hotter inside your car. Lens coatings don’t love the heat, so keep them away from places like the dash of your car.
- Always carry your glasses in their case when they are not on your face. This ensures your lenses won’t get scratches from placing face-down on hard surfaces.
